Wet Sanding — Coarse Stage

We begin with coarser grit wet sandpaper (400–800 grit) to remove the heavily oxidized outer layer of the polycarbonate lens. This stage removes the yellowing, cloudiness, and surface scratches that block light output.

Wet Sanding — Fine Stage

We progress through finer grits (1500–3000) to remove the scratch marks left by the coarser stages. By the end of this stage, the lens surface is smooth and the haze from coarse sanding is eliminated.

Machine Polishing

We use a dual-action orbital polisher with a cutting compound followed by a finishing polish to restore full optical clarity. This stage removes any remaining micro-scratches and brings the lens to a glass-like finish.

UV Sealant Application

The final and most important step. We apply a professional-grade UV sealant that bonds to the polycarbonate lens surface. This coating is what prevents re-yellowing — without it, oxidation returns within months. Our sealant is backed by a 3-year guarantee.

WHY THE UV COATING IS THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP

Most DIY headlight restoration kits skip or underperform on the UV protection step. They sand and polish the lens — which looks great for 2–3 months — but without a durable UV sealant, Colorado's high-altitude UV radiation re-oxidizes the polycarbonate surface within a season.
